Tried to stop in for a quick lunch but the only available seat was at the bar, behind the tap. No problem. I waited until a girl walked by to just let her know that I had sat down. I merely waived my hand, not like hailing a damn taxi and she shoots at me "I'm NOT the bartender! I was doing something! You don't have to be rude! Do you want a menu or something? She pitches a menu at me and needless to say, I took my money elsewhere. I've been in the food and beverage industry for over 30 years most of which have been in a management capacity. This was the worst experience ever. It took less than 5 minutes to change me from a new customer to a never again customer and share my experience with the community.
Disappointing as hell. I come here a lot. Usually on Wednesday’s for the wing deal. Which I love. Decided to come in for the $9 fish and chips. Fish came in comically small and insanely thin filets. So thin that they were completely overlooked and inedible. The lemon wedge the meal came with was almost bigger than the filet!!
Came in on a Saturday night because it was a bit quieter than the nearby bars that were flogged with drunk college students. Turns out that the bartenders were also drunk college students. The girl who served me was so hammered that she forgot to charge me for my drinks. Both girls were visibly very drunk, slurring their words, and could barely stand up straight. The girl who served me also had a weird attitude and told me my drink was “basic” and at 11pm or so, she started capping all the bottles and breaking down the bar (there were a couple other people in there that left as she started cleaning up) so I asked her what time they close, and she told me she can close the bar whenever she wants. I also heard both of the bartenders bragging about not getting in trouble with their boss, and said “what are they gonna do, fire us?” Totally unhinged behavior and super unprofessional.

Note:
Don’t expect a fancy place or anything amazing. However, this place is great if you want to relax a bit and enjoy a drink while having some bar foods.
We had two cocktails, they were okay for the price but nothing extraordinary. The slider sandwich was good but again nothing fancy.
All in all I will go back if I want to enjoy couple of drinks and some good bar food.
The waiter was nice, but quiet and of few words, never asked how we were or how the food was. Basically just moved the food around and took the checks. The fish and chips were very dissapointing. Very small piece of fish (lemon slice to scale, almost the same size) and the fries overcooked (appeared to be two batches, one ok and one pretty bad) and not very seasoned if at all. Part of the fish had basically no moisture at all and was fibrous, and the rest was quite dry too. On top of all of this the menu prices on their door was incorrect, so was charged $13 (instead of $11.50) for a small almost lemon-wedge sized dry fish and some overcooked fries, ended up being $14 after tax. When I told the waiter about the discrepancy he said he was sorry but unfortunately the price was $13 as the menu said at the table (which I didn't look at since I had already looked at the menu on the door). My friend had the crispy chicken sandwich, which he said was good, but make sure they put the aioli on it because they forgot to when the brought it out. So a poor experience all around, except the atmosphere was pretty good, despite being a bit loud (but that's expected on a Sunday night in a pub).
I got the chicken sandwich here, and my wife got the Irish stew.
My wife loved the stew, saying it was as good as she would expect from an Irish pub.
While the garlic aioli was very good, and had a lot of garlic, the chicken was rather dry. Additionally, the breading on the chicken tasted unusual to me, and was not particularly good.
Wow, we found a fun little pub. Great atmosphere, food and service. I had the very hoppy beer called Bells Hopslam IPA. So yummy and 10.0%!!!! I will come back another day to try more brews and apps. They have a special for a 1/2 Reuben sandwich with stew for $8. I will be bringing some friends here soon.
We were there on 9/4/23 the bartender/server was extremely friendly. The food was delicious. Will be coming back next time we are in Iowa!
